Trail-born Landon Ferraro joins Jets on TSN as analyst

Trail-born former NHL player Landon Ferraro has joined TSN as the new analyst for Winnipeg Jets regional broadcasts.
TSN announced the appointment Sept. 1. Ferraro, 35, has already worked as a Sportsnet hockey analyst in Vancouver and was part of the Vancouver Canucks’ coverage of the 2026 NHL Draft earlier this summer.
The new role adds another broadcasting connection between the Ferraro family and the Winnipeg Jets.
Landon is the son of longtime NHL player and broadcaster Ray Ferraro, whose hockey career included a season with the Trail Jr. Smoke Eaters. The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League still lists Ray Ferraro as a co-holder of its single-season goals record after he scored 86 goals for Trail in 1980-81.
Ray Ferraro went on to play 1,258 NHL games with six teams before moving into broadcasting. His work included TSN, where he was part of the Jets on TSN broadcast group during the 2017-18 season.
Landon Ferraro was born in Trail on Aug. 8, 1991, although much of his minor-hockey career was based elsewhere. Hockey Canada lists Vancouver as his hometown, while BC Hockey says Ferraro spent part of his childhood in Atlanta while his father was playing in the NHL before returning to B.C. and playing with the Burnaby Winter Club and Vancouver North West Giants.
Detroit selected Ferraro 32nd overall in the second round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He appeared in 77 NHL games with the Detroit Red Wings, Boston Bruins and Minnesota Wild, recording seven goals and five assists.
His professional career also included several seasons in the American Hockey League and later stops in Germany. Ferraro represented Canada at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing.
Ferraro has been building his broadcasting experience since the end of his playing career. In addition to his Sportsnet work in Vancouver, he attended the NHL’s Broadcast Training Camp in New York in July 2025, where former players worked with experienced broadcasters and practised calling game action.
The Winnipeg assignment also carries another Kootenay-Boundary connection.
Kevin Sawyer, who served as the Jets on TSN analyst last season, played for the Grand Forks Border Bruins in 1991-92 before a professional career that included time with four NHL clubs.
Ferraro now takes over the Jets analyst role after a playing and broadcasting career that began with a Trail birthplace and a family name already well established in local hockey history.
A historic mine opening near Rossland’s Kootenay Columbia Trail will be permanently sealed, with a three-week trail closure beginning Sept. 28 so crews can complete the work.
