Border Bruins return home after three losses on East Kootenay road trip

GRAND FORKS — The Grand Forks Border Bruins return to home ice Friday after losing all three games of an October 23–25 East Kootenay road trip, conceding 21 goals while scoring seven.

The Bruins fell 7–0 to the Kimberley Dynamiters on Friday, October 23. Kimberley goaltender Sam Lai stopped 17 shots for the shutout, extending the Dynamiters' winning streak to eight games, according to the British Columbia Hockey Conference (BCHC). That streak ended against Kamloops the following night.

Grand Forks scored six times Saturday against the Columbia Valley Rockies, but Columbia Valley won 8–6. Eight Rockies players scored in the game, the first of two consecutive eight-goal performances by the Invermere club.

The Bruins opened the scoring in Fernie on Sunday, October 25, before the Ghostriders answered with six consecutive goals for a 6–1 win. It was Grand Forks' first goal against Fernie in three meetings this season, according to the BCHC. Fernie reported outshooting the Bruins 43–14 over the final two periods.

Grand Forks will now play two home games at Jack Goddard Memorial Arena. The Bruins host the Princeton Posse on Friday, October 30, followed by a rematch against Columbia Valley on Saturday, October 31. Both games begin at 7 p.m. Pacific.
