Chilliwack RCMP renew appeal two years after suspicious death of Tania Langley

Chilliwack RCMP are renewing their appeal for information two years after the disappearance and death of Tania Langley, saying investigators continue to consider the circumstances surrounding her disappearance suspicious.
Langley, 53, was reported missing on Sept. 5, 2024, after she was last seen in Chilliwack on Aug. 29. In a Sept. 3 release, RCMP said she was located deceased along the Fraser River in Mission on Sept. 17, 2024.
An archived RCMP notice connected to the same police file is timestamped Sept. 16, 2024, and states that the woman reported missing on Sept. 5 had been located. The archived page shows a modification date of Sept. 17. RCMP has not explained the difference between the two dates.
Police said investigators have pursued numerous leads during the past two years and that the investigation remains active. The Sept. 3 release does not say what led investigators to consider the circumstances surrounding Langley’s disappearance suspicious or whether police are treating her death as a homicide.
Investigators are asking anyone who saw Langley, saw her vehicle or has information about her movements before her disappearance to contact police.
At the time she disappeared, Langley was driving a red Ford Ranger and was known to have ties to Chilliwack, Abbotsford and Mission. She was described as five-foot-one and about 90 pounds, with short brownish-grey hair and green eyes, and she had a tattoo on her arm featuring vines, flowers and the names of her children.
The Sept. 3 release does not identify where along the Fraser River Langley was found or say what happened to the Ford Ranger she was driving when she disappeared.
Langley’s family, in a statement released through RCMP, described her as a daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother and friend who was deeply loved and whose loss continues to affect those closest to her.
“The loss of Tania has left an immeasurable void in our lives, and we continue to grieve her absence every day,” the family said.
The family is also urging anyone with information, even information that may seem minor, to come forward in the hope it could help investigators establish what happened.
