CHRISTINA LAKE — The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary now lists 2027 for a prescribed burn at Christina Lake Community Nature Park, although earlier project information anticipated the work in fall 2026.

The district’s wildfire-risk-reduction webpage includes the park under a heading for prescribed burns planned in 2027. The detailed project description on the same page still refers to a low-intensity burn of the park’s eastern half in fall 2026, subject to suitable weather and fuel-moisture conditions.

The project, begun in fall 2024, involves removing ladder fuels, pruning trees and reducing surface fuels to help limit wildfire risk near the park and provide firefighters with defensible space.

The RDKB has not specified a date in 2027 on the webpage or explained the differing schedule information.
