Suspected fentanyl, cocaine and firearm seized in Vernon drug warrant

VERNON — RCMP seized suspected fentanyl and cocaine, a firearm and cash after executing a drug-trafficking search warrant at a residence on 24th Avenue earlier this week.

Frontline officers with the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP, assisted by the RCMP Southeast District Emergency Response Team, executed the warrant at about 2:20 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at a residence in the 3900-block of 24th Avenue.

Police said the warrant was obtained in connection with an ongoing investigation into drug-trafficking activity in the area. Officers seized what RCMP described as quantities of suspected fentanyl and cocaine, as well as a firearm and cash. Police have not released the amounts of the suspected drugs or cash, or further details about the firearm.

Nine people were inside the residence when officers executed the warrant, according to RCMP. All nine were released pending further investigation. Police have not announced charges or identified any of the people who were present.

RCMP said the investigation will be submitted for a comprehensive charge review once it is complete.

The operation was the second drug-trafficking search warrant publicly reported by Vernon North Okanagan RCMP in the 3900-block of 24th Avenue in about three months. On June 24, frontline officers and the Southeast District Emergency Response Team executed a warrant at a residence on the same block and reported seizing suspected fentanyl and cash. Twelve people were found inside during that operation and were also released pending further investigation.

RCMP has not said whether the two warrants were executed at the same residence or whether the June and September investigations are connected.
