ROSSLAND — The City of Rossland will remove its seasonal yard-waste and FireSmart debris disposal bins from the Rossland Arena on Monday, Nov. 16, closing the arena drop-off for the year.

The bins have provided a place for residents to dispose of eligible branches, leaves and other vegetation during the 2026 FireSmart Debris Disposal Program. Earlier this year, the city discontinued curbside collection of leaves, branches and FireSmart debris during spring cleanup, citing labour and disposal costs.

Residents who need to dispose of yard and garden waste after the bins are removed can use the McKelvey Creek Regional Landfill at 1900 Highway 3B in Trail. The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary lists the landfill as open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily except statutory holidays. Disposal fees may apply.

Questions about the Rossland bins can be directed to the city's Public Works Office at 250-362-2328 or pwclerk@rossland.ca.
