A 62-year-old man has died after a single-motorcycle crash on Highway 3 east of Castlegar, with police saying early indications suggest the rider encountered wildlife on the roadway.
Castlegar RCMP were notified of the crash shortly after 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5. First responders arrived to find a significantly damaged motorcycle and its lone rider, who had died from his injuries.
RCMP said investigators believe the motorcyclist encountered wildlife while travelling along the highway and attempted to take evasive action to avoid a collision. The motorcycle then left the roadway and entered the ditch.
Police have described the wildlife connection as an early indication in the investigation. The RCMP release does not identify what type of wildlife was involved.
