Influenza A outbreak remains active at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital

An Influenza A outbreak remains active on the medical unit at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail.

Interior Health’s current health-facility outbreak list identifies the KBRH medical unit as being under a respiratory infection outbreak caused by Influenza A. The outbreak was declared Sept. 12 and remained on the active list Monday, Sept. 21.

Interior Health removes facilities from the list once an outbreak has been declared over.

The public listing does not indicate how many patients or staff have been affected and does not provide any Medical Unit-specific visitor restrictions.

Interior Health advises people not to visit health-care facilities if they are feeling unwell, including if they have a fever, cold or flu symptoms, or have been near someone who is ill. Visitors are also asked to clean their hands and follow respiratory etiquette, and to wear a mask when appropriate or when requested by health-care workers.
