OKANAGAN — Three people have been arrested after a man was shot in Salmon Arm Saturday evening and a suspect vehicle was later tracked to a residence in Sicamous.
Salmon Arm RCMP said officers were called to the 300 block of Fraser Avenue NW at about 5:21 p.m. Aug. 8 after receiving a report of a shooting.
Police said the injured man made his way to a nearby business for help while the suspects fled in a white pickup truck.
The man's injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening and he was taken to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services.
As the investigation continued, police identified a suspect and a vehicle believed to be connected to the shooting. The vehicle was later found at a residence in Sicamous, where officers contained the property.
Members of the Southeast District Emergency Response Team and Police Dog Services assisted with a search of the residence. Three suspects were arrested without incident.
Investigators believe the shooting was targeted and isolated.
“This was a coordinated effort involving multiple policing units that resulted in the timely identification and arrest of the suspects,” Staff Sgt. Simon Scott of Salmon Arm RCMP said.
Police have not announced charges, identified the victim or suspects, or released a possible motive. The investigation remains ongoing.
Saturday's shooting comes less than a month after a separate fatal shooting during a home invasion in Salmon Arm.
RCMP said three suspects — believed to be two men and one woman — entered a residence in the 100 block of 4th Street SE at about 3 a.m. July 17. An altercation occurred and one resident was shot. The victim later died from their injuries.
Police said the suspects fled in a black Chrysler 300. A vehicle believed to have been involved in the homicide was found burned later that day at the Glenemma Trailhead parking lot in the Kelly Mountain Recreation Site.
RCMP have not indicated that the July homicide and Saturday's shooting are connected.
Anyone with information about the Aug. 8 shooting, including CCTV or dash-camera footage, who has not already spoken with police is asked to contact Salmon Arm RCMP at 250-832-6044.
