Small wildfire reported near Mount Kobau in rural Osoyoos

BC Wildfire Service was responding Wednesday afternoon to a small wildfire reported near Mount Kobau in rural Osoyoos.
The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen Emergency Operations Centre issued an advisory at 2:15 p.m. Sept. 2 after wildfire K52158 was reported in the Upper Richter Creek area near Mt. Kobau in Electoral Area A.
The RDOS identifies Electoral Area A as Rural Osoyoos.
The regional district said BC Wildfire Service was responding to the wildfire and its emergency operations centre was monitoring the situation.
No action was required from residents at the time of the advisory. The RDOS asked people to avoid the area to allow emergency personnel to work safely.
As of Thursday evening, Sept. 3, the RDOS had not posted a further update specifically about K52158. Its Sept. 2 advisory directs residents to the BC Wildfire Service incident dashboard for current wildfire information and asks residents to follow official sources for updates.
Residents can also sign up for the RDOS Voyent Alert system for emergency notifications.
