Border Bruins tee up first golf tournament, open Bruins Cubs registration
The Grand Forks Border Bruins are preparing for the upcoming hockey season with a pair of community events, including the club’s first annual golf tournament and the return of its Bruins Cubs youth program.
The inaugural Border Bruins golf tournament will be held Saturday, Aug. 29 at Christina Lake Golf Club, with a 3 p.m. shotgun start.
Registration costs $150 per person and includes dinner. The event will also feature prizes and an auction and is being held in support of the Border Bruins.
Platinum Tour Busses is providing transportation from the Grand Forks rink to the golf course and back for participants who need a designated driver. The bus will leave the rink at 1:30 p.m.
Golfers can register through Christina Lake Golf Club at 250-447-9313. Space is limited.
The tournament coincides with the Bruins’ 2026 main camp, which runs Aug. 28 to 30 in Grand Forks.
The club is also accepting registrations for its 2026–27 Bruins Cubs program for children ages three to nine.
The six-session program introduces young players to hockey through skating, puck handling, shooting and passing drills led by Border Bruins players and coaching staff. The program does not include competitive games.
Sessions are scheduled for Sept. 27, Oct. 4, Oct. 11, Oct. 18, Nov. 1 and Nov. 8 in Grand Forks.
Registration is $150 plus GST and includes a Bruins Cubs jersey. Participants must provide their own skates and required hockey equipment, including an approved helmet and face mask.
