Fifth annual Funduro returns to Christina Lake Sept. 13
The fifth annual Funduro returns to Christina Lake on Sept. 13, with proceeds supporting mountain-bike trail maintenance and improvements in Christina Lake and Grand Forks.

Mountain bikers will return to the trails above Christina Lake on Sept. 13 for the fifth annual Funduro, a local race that raises money for trail maintenance and improvements in Christina Lake and Grand Forks.
The Kettle River Cycling Association is organizing the event at Stewart Creek Forest Service Road. The association’s current event poster gives a 10 a.m. start at the 5.5-kilometre point on the road.
The Funduro is designed for riders of different ages and abilities, with terrain ranging from easier flow trails to advanced singletrack. Boundary Country’s official event listing says the race will include several rider categories and prizes, with registration capped at 75 racers.
A barbecue by donation will also be provided by the Christina Lake Fire Fighters Society.
Boundary Country lists the overall event from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., while KRCA’s poster gives the 10 a.m. Stewart Creek start. The available official material does not specify what portion of the event begins at 9 a.m.
All proceeds from this year’s Funduro will go toward maintenance and improvements to mountain-bike trail systems in Christina Lake and Grand Forks.
KRCA maintains and improves trails in the Boundary and advocates for their continued use. The association also organizes regular group rides and is working toward development of a skills park beside the City of Grand Forks BMX track.
The Funduro dates back at least to 2022. Christina Lake Tourism reported in its 2023 adventure guide that the 2022 event attracted 50 entries. This year’s maximum field is 75 racers, although comparable attendance figures for the intervening events have not been published in the official material reviewed by the Sentinel.
KRCA has also received recent financial support for its work. The Phoenix Foundation’s grant archive records grants of $1,750 to the association in 2025 and $5,074 in 2026. The archive does not identify what those grants funded.
Christina Lake Rotary has separately reported providing $1,000 to KRCA for trail maintenance.
