Nelsonites hold vigil for victims of Quebec City mosque attack

Close to 100 people from all faiths joined together at the Anglican Church in Nelson for a Prayer Vigil & Candlelight Procession after a gunman shot six people last week at a Quebec City mosque.
"It was nice to see everyone come together to show our support for the Muslim community in Quebec," said a person as she left the vigil outside Nelson City Hall.
The Vigil was organized by the Anglican Church in Nelson to show sympathy and support for the victims of the appalling attack at the mosque in Sainte-Foy, Quebec.
Most of the churches in Nelson were represented.
The vigil began at the Anglican Church where the names of the victims were read out.
The participants then lit candles and marched to Nelson City Hall where they stood in silence remembering the six killed in Quebec.
Alexandre Bissonnette was identified as the person who opened fire at the Quebec Islamic Cultural Center.
Six men died in the shooting during evening prayers at the Centre Culturel Islamique de Québec (Islamic cultural centre of Quebec). Nineteen people were also wounded.
Nelson was one of many communities across Canada holding vigils and memorials after the fatal shooting at the Quebec City mosque.
