Kelowna-born Taylor Kitsch is returning as Ben Edwards in the first teaser for Season 2 of Prime Video’s The Terminal List — although the series is not undoing his character’s death.

Prime Video released the teaser Aug. 20, offering the first look at Chris Pratt’s return as Navy SEAL Commander James Reece. All eight episodes of the new season will premiere Oct. 21.

Kitsch appears early in the teaser as Edwards, Reece’s former friend and fellow SEAL.

Warning: spoilers for Season 1 of The Terminal List follow.

Edwards was killed by Reece at the end of the first season after Reece discovered his longtime friend had played a role in the conspiracy that led to the deaths of his SEAL team.

His return in Season 2 is posthumous.

Pratt has said Reece is dealing with hallucinations and memories that intrude on the present, allowing people from his past — including Edwards — to reappear as his physical and psychological condition deteriorates.

That makes Kitsch’s return less a resurrection than another sign of what Reece is carrying with him after the revenge campaign that drove the first season.

Season 2 is based on True Believer, the second novel in author Jack Carr’s James Reece series, and expands the story from the first season’s revenge thriller into a larger international espionage story.

According to Prime Video, Reece is drawn back into action as a conspiracy stretches from Moscow to Langley and reaches into his own family history. The season takes him from the Indian Ocean through Africa and the Middle East and into Europe.

The teaser also shows Reece being offered a possible way out of his fugitive status: a pardon in exchange for taking on another mission.

At the same time, his health remains a central part of the story. Reece continues to deal with the effects of the brain tumour established in Season 1, while his memories and hallucinations increasingly blur the line between his past and present.

Kitsch’s appearance continues the Canadian actor’s expanded role in The Terminal List franchise.

He returned to lead the 2025 prequel series The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, which explored Edwards’ earlier transition from the Navy SEALs into CIA Special Operations. The prequel was set seven years before the events of the original series.

Several Dark Wolf characters are also carrying over into the second season of The Terminal List, including Tom Hopper as Raife Hastings, Dar Salim as Mohammed Farooq and Luke Hemsworth as Jules Landry.

Constance Wu returns as journalist Katie Buranek, while Gabriel Luna joins the cast as former Navy SEAL and CIA officer Freddy Strain.

Kitsch is best known for playing Tim Riggins on Friday Night Lights. His other credits include Lone Survivor, True Detective, Waco and Painkiller.

The Terminal List Season 2 premieres Oct. 21 on Prime Video.
