Okanagan Sun edge Raiders 10–8, stay in pursuit of unbeaten Langley

The Okanagan Sun survived a rain-soaked defensive battle Saturday night, defeating the Vancouver Island Raiders 10–8 at the Apple Bowl to improve to 5–1 on the BC Football Conference season.
Both teams were held below 100 passing yards as the game stayed close into the final minutes. Okanagan carried a 10–6 lead late before Vancouver Island drove to the Sun 20-yard line, where Glen Kodua intercepted Raiders quarterback Dylan Moreno to stop the threat. The Sun later conceded a safety but held on for the two-point win.
The victory completed a season sweep of Vancouver Island. Okanagan also defeated the Raiders 45–17 in Nanaimo on July 18.
Sun defender Ashton Davidson recorded four solo tackles, two assisted tackles, one sack and a knockdown, while Vancouver Island’s Spencer Remple recorded an interception.
Okanagan improved to 5–1 with the win, while the Langley Rams remained unbeaten at 6–0 after defeating the Prince George Kodiaks 62–10 on Saturday. Langley generated 575 yards of offence, including 339 passing yards from Darryl Overstreet Jr., who threw three touchdown passes.
The Sun’s only loss this season came against Langley, which defeated Okanagan 32–25 on July 25. The teams meet again Sept. 12 at the Apple Bowl in a matchup between the top two clubs in the BCFC standings.
Before then, Okanagan travels to Kamloops to face the Broncos on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 6 p.m. Kamloops is 0–6 after a 45–7 loss to the Valley Huskers.
The Sun return home to face Langley on Sept. 12 at 4 p.m. Okanagan entered Week 7 ranked fourth nationally by the Canadian Junior Football League, while Langley was ranked No. 1.
