Moose wanders through Rossland

Rosslanders are accustomed to seeing bears, deer, raccoons and coyotes roaming the streets of our residential areas and even downtown. But one resident was startled by the sight of a moose walking up the lane behind his home early on Saturday, May 5. He quickly took pictures with his phone and has shared them with the Rossland Telegraph.

Moose are the largest members of the deer – Cervidae – family; they live in forests across the northerly portions of the northern hemisphere, and their populations are declining because of predation by humans, bears and wolves, and because of the increasing affliction of winter ticks.
