Trail blaze creates havoc for firefighters

A fire on East Street this morning saw 16 firefighters from Warfield and Trail struggling to contain the blaze, according to KBRFR Cpt. Ryan Smith.

The call came in at 4:33 a.m. and fire crews arrived at 1674 East Street in Trail at 4:39 a.m.

“When crews arrived on scene, there was heavy black smoke showing from the home,” Smith said. “Crews had a tough time, as they were facing exploding propane tanks and downed power lines.”

The incident was under control by 6:15 a.m.

The fire is considered suspicious in nature and RCMP are investigating.
