Incumbent Linda Larson back in for another term

The Liberals have been voted back in for another term in the Boundary-Similkameen riding with an estimated 43 per cent of the votes, according to the initial count at the May 9th election.
Osoyoos-based Linda Larson finished with over 8,500 votes while NDP's Colleen Ross vote count passed 6,000 and 32 per cent of the popular vote.
Late comer, Dr. Peter Entwistle (Independent) has squeaked ahead Green Party's Vonnie Lavers with 15 per cent of the vote for Entwistle and the remaining 10 per cent for Lavers.
The riding has favoured the Liberals in recent history and has not elected an NDP candidate since 1991.
Province-wide, the NDP and Liberals have had a tight race, spending much of election night neck-in-neck with the Liberals won the election with a minority government. The Liberals have been in power for 16 years and Christy Clark has been premier for sixth years, heading into another four-year term. There hasn't been a minority government in BC since 1952.
The Green Party made their own firsts by electing three members to the legislature. Leader Andrew Weaver, an incumbent in Oak Bay-Gordon Head, and Adam Olsen who was elected to Saanich North and the Islands. In Cowichan Valley Sonia Furstenau was newly elected.
