Salmo man killed in car accident Sunday near Village

RCMP report a 72-year-old Salmo man died in a car accident east of the Village Sunday.

Sergeant Chad Badry of the West Kootenay Traffic and Integrated Road Safety said in a media release Monday the driver was alone when the vehicle drove off Highway 3 approximately four kilometers east of Salmo.

"The name of the deceased male is not being released at this time out of respect for the family and until permission from the Coroner has been given," said Badry, adding the man was found deceased at the accident scene.

Badry said RCMP members of West Kootenay Traffic and Salmo Detachment in conjunction with the BC Coroner's Service will be working together to determine the cause of the collision.

"At this point, road conditions do not appear to be a contributing factor," he said.
