YRB issues weather warning for area motorists

Yellowhead Road & Bridge Ltd is advising the public to be extra carefull in driving today as the region is experiencing heavy rainfall in the valleys and beginning at 1200 meters it switches to heavy wet snow.

"We have received 10-12 cm since 3:30 a.m. and are forecasted to receive another 20-25 throughout the day today," said Marc Dale Operations Manager at Yellowhead Road & Bridge Ltd.
 
Dale said drivers will experience winter driving conditions over Kootenay Pass Tuesday and should watch for water pooling below 1000 – 1200 meters and slush and compact snow above this elevation with limited visibility.
 
"Road and weather conditions change quickly, so please slow down and drive to conditions," Dale said.
 
Dale said YRB has full resources on the Pass and will monitor weather and update Drive BC. throughout the day.
