President, CEO of Columbia Basin Trust dies suddenly

The Columbia Basin Trust is mourning the loss of President and CEO Neil Muth.

In a brief statement, Trust communications director Delphi Hoodicoff announced the sudden passing of the CBT President and CEO.

"It is with heavy hearts that the family of Neil Muth, his loving wife Cathy, and his three children John (wife Angela), Emily (fiancé Paul) and Hilary, in conjunction with the Columbia Basin Trust announce his sudden passing," the statement said.

"He will be remembered first and foremost as a loving husband and father."
 
Muth, born and raised in Trail, served as President and CEO of the Columbia Basin Trust since 2005.  

The Silver City native also served as vice-president of the BC Investment Management Corporation as well as various positions with the BC Ministry of Finance and the New Zealand Treasury.

Muth, who graduated with a bachelor of arts in economics from the University of Victoria and a master of arts in economics from the University of BC, also operated his own consulting company.

The family has requested privacy at this time.
 
Hoodicoff said the Trust would release full statement in the next few days.
