Wildfire in Sunningdale Saturday

Twelve firefighters rapidly extinguished a wildfire in Sunningdale this afternoon, according to Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue Captain Greg Ferraby.

He said the call came it at 12:32 p.m.

“There was a wildfire about 15 by 15 (feet) below the water tower, on the bank,” he said. “The wind picked up and it grew to about 120 by 120 (feet).”

Ten firefighters from Company Four and two from Company Two had the fire under control by 1:22 p.m.

The cause of the blaze is currently unknown, but Forestry will investigate
