Fatal boating accident on Kootenay Lake

One man has died and three are in hospital after a boating accident on Kootenay Lake, according to an RCMP press release.

"On Oct. 11, at approximately 9 p.m. the Creston RCMP and Kaslo RCMP with other emergency services responded to a report that a boat had struck a rock while travelling on Kootenay Lake, near Riondel," the release said. 

"Four occupants were on board at the time of the collision.  One of the occupants, a 30-year-old male of Fruitvale succumbed to injuries on scene,
while the other three remaining occupants were transported to a local area hospital.  
 
"The matter is still under investigations to determine the cause of the incident.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Creston RCMP at (250)428-9313 or Crime Stoppers."
