BC Coroners Service confirms identity in boating incident on Kootenay Lake

The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died following a boating incident on Kootenay Lake near Riondel Sunday (October 11) as 30-year-old David Larry Dale Jamieson of Fruitvale, a small community about 16 kilometres east of Trail.

The BC Coroners Service said Jamieson was one of four persons aboard a seven-metre aluminium power boat on Kootenay Lake.

"About 8 p.m. on Oct. 11, the boat ran into rocks at the base of a steep rock face near the Riondel ferry terminal on the east side of the lake," the BC Coroners Service media release said.

"Mr. Jamieson died at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the collision."

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.

The family of Mr. Jamieson has been notified of his death.

Fruitvale man dies in boating accident on Kootenay Lake

RCMP is reporting a man has died following a boating accident near Riondel late Sunday night.

RCMP said a 30-year-old man from Fruitvale died at the scene of the accident after the boat he was riding in struck a rock on Kootenay Lake.

RCMP from Kaslo and Creston, joined by emergency response teams, responded to the accident at approximately 9 p.m. Sunday.

RCMP said four occupants were on board the boat at the time of the collision.

Three of the occupants were transported to local area hospital. However, the fourth person, from Fruitvale, succumbed to injuries.

RCMP said the matter remains under investigations to determine the cause of the incident.
