West Shore police find one escaped prisoner; one still at large

The West Shore RCMP wishes to advise that escapee Brian Patrick has been located. He was taken into custody at 11 a.m. without incident in the area of the Galloping Goose and Belmont High School, Langford, B.C.

Police are continuing their search for Dean Benton using the following specialized units; Police Dog Services, Island District Marine Section and Air Services.

We continue to seek the public’s help to locate Benton. Anyone with information on Benton ’s whereabouts is asked to contact West Shore RCMP, their local police department or CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-800-222-TIPS.

On Sept.7 West Shore RCMP received a report from William Head Institution that two inmates, Dean Allen Benton, 56, and Brian Peter Patrick, 44, escaped from their facility at around 11 p.m. yesterday evening.

Benton is described as white male, 183 cm (6'0") in height, 89 kilograms (197 lbs), with brown hair and green eyes. He has a tattoo on his left upper arm. Benton is currently serving an eight-year sentence for multiple robbery charges.

Patrick is described as white male, 183 cm( 6'0") in height, 93 kilograms (206 lbs), with brown hair and blue eyes. He has a tattoo on his left upper arm. Patrick is currently serving a life term for second degree murder.

Both subjects are considered violent and should not be approached. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the West Shore RCMP or the police in your area.

A search of vicinity of the area didn't turn up the men. West Shore RCMP remain in the area at this time continuing their search for these two individuals.
