Woman air-lifted to Kelowna after a near-fatal collision on CL

A woman was flown to Kelowna on Sunday after sustaining life-threatening injuries in a boating accident on Christina Lake.
The Grand Forks RCMP were called to the scene at 4:16 p.m. after two tubers collided with a second boat.
The tubers were sisters-in-laws, aged 24 and 31-years-old from Maple Ridge and Vancouver respectively. The younger woman received minor injuries but the older had two broken arms and head injuries. When she was air-lifted to Kelowna she had suspected brain injuries and was put in an induced coma.
“She is in very serious condition but the doctors are quite positive about her prognosis,” said Grand Forks RCMP Staff Sgt. Jim Harrison, noting the injuries could have been fatal.
The accident is still under investigation, but police say it looks like both boats altered their course sharply, which caused them to veer toward each other. The two boats narrowly missed colliding but the tubers that were being pulled behind hit the second boat.
