Leafs stop Bruins 6-2 to increase lead in Murdoch Division to four points

The Nelson Leafs increased its lead in the Murdoch Division to four points by stopping the Grand Forks Border Bruins 6-2 in Kootenay International Junior Hockey League action Thursday night in the Boundary City.
The win was the fourth straight for the Leafs, all against Murdoch Division opponents.
Dustin Reimer, Bryce Nielsen, Carsen Willans, Damin Devlin, Colton Schell and Blake Arcuri scored for the Leafs.
Nelson, 10-5-1-0, held period leads of 2-1 and 5-2.
Nelson returns home Saturday to meet the Kamloops Storm at 7 p.m. in the NDCC Arena.
The 8-3-1-2 Storm open the three-game road trip Friday in Chase against the Heat.
Saturday’s game is the 11th of the month for Nelson, which is 7-3 in October with one game remaining.
The contest against the Storm concludes a six games in nine day stretch for the Leafs.
Grand Forks is back at home Friday hosting Beaver Valley before travelling to Creston Saturday to meet the Thunder Cats.
ICE CHIPS: The Leafs traded center Matti Jmaeff to Creston in exchange for defenceman Kyle Wilkinson. In 10 games with the Thunder Cats the Prince George native had 3 assists. Jmaeff, who came to the Leafs last season from the Cats, had seven points for Nelson since returning from Junior A. Wilkinson turns 18 Tuesday.
