Saturday's big for moon watchers

Saturday promises to be a big day for nighttime sky watchers as full moon will be the brightest this year.

Dubbed the "super moon,” the phenomenon occurs when a full moon reaches its closest point to the earth, making it appear larger than usual.

A super moon happens every 14 months, when the full moon cycle coincides with its proximity to the planet.

Saturday's forecast at the Castlegar weather office is sunny with a 40 percent chance of isolated showers but less than 1 centimetre of precipitation.
