Castlegar man facing charges after break-and-enter

A 19-year-old Castlegar man is in custody after he was caught allegedly trying to break in  to the Kinnaird Community church on 26th street on the evening of Nov. 13.

Someone inside the church heard strange noises and called police.  Upon arrival, the male was located by police and arrested for attempting to break into the church.   Additional charges are:  possessing an instrument suitable for the purpose of breaking in to a place,  possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose ( bear spray), and possession of a Controlled substance.

The male has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance on Dec. 14.
