Tree takes out power lines

Crews restored power to Christina Lake and Grand Forks after a tree took out the lines in the industrial area of the city in just under two hours on Wednesday.

The tree, accidently dropped on the lines on the old Canpar property, hit the line around 1:30 p.m. Many downtown businesses were unable to continue to serve the public and closed their doors during the outage.

"At this time power has been restored to customers at Christina Lake and our crews are working hard to safely restore power at Grand Forks," explained Neil Pobran FortisBC spokesman.

Some parts of Grand Forks had power back on by 2:30 p.m. but some areas are still without electricity.

Roxul could not be reached for comment at this time.
