Wild ride on Kootenay Lake Ferry caught on video

It was not your everyday cruise on the Kootenay Lake Ferry during the April 18, 2021 windstorm that whipped through the West Kootenay.

Sunday's wild windstorm was not only a shock to the system for many homeowners dealing with downed trees or lighting candles due to power outages, but also to passengers and staff manning Kootenay Lake Ferry system.

"Yes, it was a wild ride," said a Kootenay Lake Ferry worker who witnessed first hand what a storm can do to Kootenay Lake during a sailing on the MV Balfour.

"It's unbelievable that Kootenay Lake can draw some huge waves from time to time."

The ride during the April 18, 2021 story was captured in a YouTube video and on Facebook for all to see as wave splash against the bow sending splashes of water onto the cars located on the deck.
