Child porn suspect arrested again for breach of conditions

By Kyra Hoggan

 A 24-year-old Castlegar man arrested charged with two counts of sexual assault, two counts of sexual interference, one count of possession of child pornography and one count of possession of a prohibited weapon (brass knuckles), has been arrested once again, this time for breaching the conditions of his release.

The man was arrested on Sept. 1 after the Castlegar RCMP detachment received a complaint that he had taken photos of a 14-year-old female and sent them to her Facebook account.

He appeared in court Sept. 2, and was released to appear in court on Oct. 13, under the following conditions:
  • a curfew;
  • no contact with the victim(s);
  • no contact with any female under the age of 18- unless permitted by his bail supervisor;
  • not to possess any computer or other device capable of accessing the Internet.
Castlegar RCMP Cpl. Deb Postnikoff said the man was arrested again yesterday for breaching the condition that he not be in the company of anyone under the age of 18, as well as violating an order that he have no contact with one of the victims.

“I think it's important that people know the police do monitor these people – we are watching,” Postnikoff said.

The man's name is being withheld to protect his victims.
